The former chicken shed was transformed years ago by Hartmut Usadel and Düsseldorf artist Jo Paffenholz into a working gallery.
The long, narrow building became a flexible and multifunctional space with the addition of movable walls. Local and international artists have shown their work in the Gallery, which has also housed group shows, educational exhibitions, and installations of the ¡PING! Festival.
The large gallery hosted between four and six shows per year.
Current exhibitions of both galleries can be found in the programme section in our BLOG
The Small Gallery
In the old farmhouse and the
LIMÓN y CHELO Restaurant
For many smaller exhibitions, the Gallery in what is now the restaurant is ideal. The gallery occupies space both in the house and outside, under the porch of the patio, and changes exhibitions frequently, with an emphasis on photography. From what was an earthen-floored farmhouse (also full of chickens, in the eighties) and an open lane that ran behind the houses, Hartmut created a graceful, white-walled space indoors and an enchanting courtyard.
In the early days, the centre was only open on Sunday mornings, and Hartmut and his artist friends would meet here for a beer and a chat. Today it is ooen five days a week and has grown into a meeting place for young and old, a place to hear good music and enjoy some of the best cuisine to be had in the Andratx area.
